There are numerous potential synergies between agriculture and tourism. Join this session to understand the full spectrum of agri-tourism opportunities available to BC farms and to identify useful strategies to diversify farm revenue through agri-tourism. Participants will learn about BC’s manual “Farm Diversification through Agri-Tourism” and leave with ideas and better insight about what is involved to successfully design and deliver exceptional experiences to BC visitors on our diverse farms.
Presenter: Dr. Nicole Vaugeois
Nicole operates a small farm with her husband in the Yellowpoint area on Vancouver Island. A farmer for her entire life, she is passionate about agriculture and the value of farms and farm heritage to society. Nicole and her colleagues authored BC’s first Guide for Farm Diversification through Agri-Tourism manual for BC’s Ministry of Agriculture in 2018. Nicole is the Associate Vice President of Research at Vancouver Island University and is the Emeritus BC Regional Innovation Chair in Tourism and Sustainable Rural Development. She serves on the Board for Destination BC, the Travel and Tourism Research Association and the BC Rural Centre.
