The BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) board of directors is seeking skilled leaders
and people from the BC farmers’ market sector who want to have a role in shaping the future of
farmers’ markets, communities, and food systems across British Columbia.
We are a passionate group who are enthusiastic about Farmers’ Markets and food security,
governance and the responsibility that comes with it, and we work hard to ensure we are doing
everything we can to support our members through our small and mighty staff team.
Applications will be accepted until January 21, 2022.
We will have two director positions open and four (4) current board members running for re-
election. All positions are directors at large and are 3 year terms. The BCAFM board meets approximately 10 times per year via ZOOM, and when travelling is possible, in person once a year for a planning retreat and again in person at the BCAFM annual
The BCAFM Board is committed to building diversity on our board and encourage applicants
from all over British Columbia with diverse backgrounds, communities and lived experiences to
apply. Please consider nominating your farmers’ market vendors, board members and
volunteers for the BCAFM board.
We actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current
barriers to equity, including, but not limited to:
- First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples;
- members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry,
colour, religion and/or spiritual beliefs, or place of origin;
- persons with visible and/or invisible (physical and/or mental) disabilities; and
- persons of marginalized sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions.
New this year! Applicants will need to provide minutes of the board meeting at which they were
nominated to demonstrate the support and affiliation with a member market.
Nomination forms can be submitted by email and must be received by January 21, 2022 to: email@example.com
