Best Business Practices for Farmers’ Market Farmers: Lessons Learned from 15 Case Studies
 online
08/28/2017
Join the Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS) and the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) for this free webinar as we guide you through the tried and true best business practices of farmers selling at BC farmers’ markets. This is an opportunity to learn from the experiences of your farmer peers - and let their success be part of your growth strategy.

The featured lessons have been gleaned from the experiences of 15 farmers from across BC, that vary in production model, land tenure, farm scale, and marketing strategies. The common thread is that all of them produce and sell fresh, local products direct to consumers through a variety of marketing channels including BC farmers’ markets.

Throughout this webinar you’ll learn what practices these farmers have put into place to grow their business and overcome challenges that you may be facing on your farm today.

The webinar will guide you through tips and best practices as identified through real life examples in four key areas of farm business performance, including:

  • Farming Operations: Creating the conditions for farming success
  • Marketing: Deciding which channels to use when
  • Human Resources: Attracting and retaining the right people
  • Financial Management: Making farm finances work for you
After you complete the webinar we’ll send you copies of the complete case study findings, and the accompanying best business practice tool-kits.

This project is a collaboration between the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets (BCAFM) and the Institute for Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
